Overview
1. Problem
Usable furniture in Lowertown often ends up in landfill instead of being reused, swapped, or donated.
2. Action
Contact resources (Lowertown Community Resource Centre, Lowertown Community Association, City of Ottawa, Ottawa Community Housing, landlords, local thrift stores, online resources like Bunz and Kijiji); develop a swap/recycling system (e.g. a website); find drop-off and swap space; recruit volunteers; fund through local sponsorship; promote through social media and outreach.
3. Outcome
A working furniture swap and upcycling system that keeps usable pieces in circulation instead of landfill.
