Overview
1. Problem
Overbrook and Castle Heights face challenges including limited tree canopy, urban heat islands, food insecurity, transportation safety, and waste reduction.
2. Action
OBEC held an online community workshop on January 15, 2022 with residents, community organizations, and sustainability advocates, structured around climate and conservation, food security and urban agriculture, energy and transportation, waste management, and design and sense of place.
3. Outcome
The plan proposes projects like pollinator gardens, improved local food access, active transportation, recycling, and composting, serving as a living document that guides ongoing community action.
