South March Highlands Ecological Eco-Tour Guidebook

1.  Problem

Residents and visitors had limited ways to understand and connect with the ecological value of the South March Highlands forest.

2.  Action

OBEC partnered with the Kanata Beaverbrook Community Association and University of Ottawa student volunteers to create a self-guided tour with maps, trail information, and a species-identification scavenger hunt covering species such as the Blanding's Turtle, Butternut Tree, and Eastern Hemlock.

3.  Outcome

The guidebook highlights local ecosystems and species at risk, promoting conservation awareness and responsible recreation in one of Ottawa's most ecologically diverse natural areas.
